Generic Three-Layer Tex-Mex Dip
Credited to: Nathan Selikoff
Nathan got this recipe from a friend's mom and got me hooked at an InterVarsity Christmas Party. Highly addictive.
- 1 can of refried beans
- 1 tub of sour cream
- 1 packet of taco seasoning
- 1 packet of finely shredded cheddar cheese
- grape or cherry tomatoes
- Open the can of refried beans and spread them on the bottom of whatever dish or plate you'll be serving them on. This will be your first layer.
- Open the sour cream and the taco seasoning and mix them together (in the sour cream tub -- it'll be one less dish to wash). When you don't see noticeable clumps of taco powder, spread this mixture over the beans.
- Sprinkle cheese over the sour cream. In fact, cover the sour cream; the cheese is meant to be its own layer, not mere decoration.
- Halve the tomatoes and arrange on top of the cheese, however you like. (These ARE supposed to be decorative, so don't go overboard. They'll be falling off chips and making a mess on your carpet and people's clothes if you add too many.)
- Serve with tortilla chips, or anything strong enough to support a heavy dip.
